INDEX

[915] T.M. Oliphant's records show Mollie Oliphant marrying an Isaiah Dickerman.

In the 1870 and 1900 censuses, there are households in Dickson and Davidson Counties with an 'I. Dickerman' or "Isaah Dickerman" married to a wife named Mary. In the 1900 census there is an Oliphant child in the home, age 14, named Flora, whose relationship is listed as a niece. Her age matches up with the Flora who was Mollie's brother John P. Oliphant's daughter.

As Mollie is a common nickname for Mary, this all seems like it would add up nicely, except for one surprise - Mary's place of birth is listed as AR. See notes about this in Presley's record.

As indicated in the notes on her father Presley, Mary may have been married once before her marriage to Isaiah Dickerman. If so, the J.H. Davis in the 1860 census may be the James in the 1870 census - he may have been adopted by Isaiah Dickerman. There are discrepancies in the ages between these three census records, so there is no guarantee that these are all the same family...though such discrepancies are not unusual.
