Living in District 9 of Cheatham County in 1860, with his wife and children John M, William W., C.M, and S. A. Also in the home is 87 year old C. Adkinson and 54 yo Thomas Elliot. Stephen's occupation is listed as 'Farming'.
Living in District 9 of Cheatham County in 1870. In his home is his wife Sarah, daughter Charity, son Stephen, and Stephen's wife Margaret. Also in the home is Charity Atkinson, now 93, a Mary E. Cauthin (23), and a Selina Cauthin (age 5). There are two more Elliott children listed after Charity Atkinson; an Ida R. (3) and Sarah S. (2). I'm not sure whose children these are - Stephen Sr. and Sarah are too old to still be having children, and they don't appear to be the children of Stephen Jr. - in the 1880 census they aren't in his home.
Stephen's wife is in her daughter's home in the 1880 census, so it is likely that Stephen died between 1870 and 1880.
