WILL OF THOMAS DRENNAN SR.
Wilson Co., TN Will Book 1834-1837, pps 169-171
In the name of God, Amen, I Thomas Drennan considering the frailty of this mortal life and being of sound mind and memory do by these presents make and publish this my last will and Testament, Revoking all wills heretofore by me made.
First, I give my soul to God, that supreme being who holds (?) of rightousness in his own hands by whom I expect to enjoy happenings eternally.
Second, I give my body to the grave and return to the dust from whence I came.
Item, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Anny, one negro girl named Roda, one feather bed and furniture, one cow & calf and my cubbard and furniture. Also, all the pottery on our premises and live in my late dwelling house and have and hold possession of so much of my present farm as will be of sufficient value that she may live comfortably her ntaural lifetime or widowhood and at her death or marriage all of said property given her to be sold and equally divided between my lawful heirs.
Item, I give and beequeath unto my daughter Sally Fisher, four hundred dollars.
Item, I give unto my daugher Nancy Shane, one negro girl named Sarah and one sorrel mare worth two hundred and seventy five dollars. Also one hundred and twenty five dollars.
Item, I give unto my daughter Rachel Hugueley, one hundred and ten acres of land to her and the lawful heirs of her body by the name Hugueley, to be laid off out of my land according to the field notes enclosed in my will with my hand written on the back of said field notes said 110 acres of land valued by me to be worth five hundred dollars.
Item, I give unto my daughter Jane Cutchin, one negro girl named (Line?) at two hundred and forty dollars. Also, one hundred and sixty dollars.
Item, I give unto my daughter Eliz. Drennan, one negro girl named East at two hundred and twenty five dollars. Also, one hundred and seventy give dollars and one feather bed and furniture.
Item, I give unto my daughter Mariah Drennan, one negro girl named racheal at two hundred dollars. Also, two hundred dollars and feather bed and furniture.
Item, I give unto my daughter Hardinor Drennan, one negro girl named Harriet at three hundred and twenty five dollars. Also, seventy five dollars and one feather bed and furniture.
Item, I give unto my son John Drenon, four hundred dollars.
Item, I give unto my son William Drenon, four hundred dollars.
Item, I give unto my son Joseph F. Drenon, four hundred dollars.
Item, I give unto my son Thomas Drenon, four hundred dollars.
Item, I give unto my son Hiram Drenon, all the tract of land on which I lived, containing one hundred and ten acres valued by me at six hundred dollars.
And lastly, I constitute and appoint my brother, James Drenon, my Sole Executor and authorize and enjoin on him to sell all my negroes not distributed by me in the body of this my last will and testament and also all my estate of whatsoever kind I may own at my Dec., not distributed by me.
The Negroes to be sold, as named, Philip, Kate and one boy child of said Kate, one boy George, one girl Lotty, and after said property is sold, my Exr will make an equal division between my heirs after paying all my just debts and expenses. This is my lst Will and Testament in witness whereof I have this day set my hand and Seal this 8th day of June 1833.

The last will and testament of Thomas Drennon dec. was exhibited in open Court and duly proven by the oath of William G. Barr, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto and the handwritng of John C. Wood, the other witness being proven by the oaths of Thos. Kirpatrick and David F. Wood and is ordered to be recorded.

On Oct. 12, 1835 Ann had her one year provisions widow allotment set off as follows: "Twelve barrels of corn, eight hundred pounds of pork, four hundred pounds of flower (sic), thirty pounds sugar, twenty pounds coffee, one barrel salt". She kept a separate residence in the 1840 census with only her youngest daughter Hardenia to keep her company, but by 1850 census was living with her son William's family at age 83.
On Oct. 30, 1835 Thomas' estate sale was done, with total value (excluding land) turned in to the Wilson Co., court as $3619.08 3/4. The inventory of the sale was: "1 black mare, 1 sorrel horse, 2 bay horses, 1 colt, 1 bay filly, 3 red cows, 1 red calf, 3 red heifers, 2 red steers, 1 white cow, 1 white calf, 1 white steer, 1 branded heifer, 12 head sheep, 27 head hogs, 3900 bushels fodder, 500 bundles oats, 70 barrels corn, 57 bushels corn, 1 lot hoes, 1 grubbing hoe, 1 weeding hoe, 1 draw knife, 1 cutting knife and box, 3 hand saws, 2 pole axes, 1 shovel, 1 spade, 1 pair double trees, 1 single tree and chain, 1 mattock, 2 bull-tounge pllughs, 1 shovel plough, 3 ploughs with gear, 2 sythes and cradles, 1 man's harrow, 1 auger, 3 pairs gears, 1 pitchfork, 3 meat stands, 1 grindstone, 1 man's saddle, 1 cart body and frame, 1 log chain, 1 steer yoke, 1 lot planks, 1 pair cattleguards, 1 pair saddlebags, 2 cowhides, 6 empty barrels, 1 lot planes, 3 cotton wheels, 1 flax wheel, 1 bed and furniture, 1 large table and 6 chairs, 1 chest, 1 clock and case, 2 ovens with lids, 1 pot, 1 skillet, 1 tub, 2 pails, 3 tables, 1 bedstead, 1 pot rack, 5 cup hooks, $8.50 cash, $8,33 IOU note, 6 Negroes".
