[85]
Living in District 24 of Wilson Co. in 1850 census (p.449), with $1000 worth of land.
In 1860, Nancy is still living in District 24, but is listed as a Bridges. The census taker may have made an error, because he lists the household number next to her (indicating head of household). On the line above her, though, is the man that shows up as her husband in the 1870 census. He also indicates each of Nancy's children that are still at home (John, Alfred, Fountain, and 'Birdica'/Berdoty) as Bridges. Either they took their step-father's name, or the census taker made an error. Berdoty's will and tombstone lists her as a "Hewgley", so this does appear to be an error.
1870 census shows her still in District 24 living with John Bridges and their son, Thomas. All of the Hewgley children have moved out by this point.
[2340] Child Berdoty's will mentions mother, Nancy BRIDGES.
