Source for his name, his wife's name and names of children: Ruby Hewgley Barnes.
Per Ruby Barnes, he ran a grocery in North Nashville that she visited as a girl.
In the 1930 census, there is a Jeff Davis married to a Lillian in Dist 4 of Nashville, and his occupation is listed as 'Huckster - Market goods'. This all matches up.
