[476] Loved 1st husband, but only together for few mos. His mom had a lot to do with it. They were divorced, and she later married Tommy, who mistreated her.

Owned a beauty shop in Nashville.

She died in 1998 of respiratory failure due to emphysema. The funeral service was conducted at her request by Steve Scott, husband of her niece Diane Oliphant.

HEWGLEY, Tolbertus Lee
February 5, 1998. Survived by sisters: Ruby Barnes, North Carolina and Elba Oliphant, Nashville; two special nieces; Donna Darks, Hendersonville and Melody Spellman, Detroit; numerous other relatives and friends. Remains are the Eastland Funeral Home, 904 Gallatin Road, where services will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 a.m. by Bro. Steve Scott. Interment Old Dozier Family Cemetery, near Ashland City, TN. For those desiring, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice.
