[2185] Another educated guess: James' will mentions his grandchildren Hariet, Frances, and William Smillage - meaning that he had a daughter that married a Smillage. The only marriage between an Oliphant and someone with a similar name was in 1823 in Rutherford County, when Amelia E. Oliphant married Edward Smelledge.
